What is on the card

When a big feeling hits, a kid cannot always think of what to do. This card gives them the steps, so the plan is ready before the feeling is.

1 · Name it

Say the feeling out loud. "I am so mad." Naming a feeling turns the volume down.

2 · Breathe it down

Big belly breaths. In for four, out for four. Five slow ones.

3 · Move it out

Shake your hands, stomp, push against a wall. Let the feeling move through your body.

4 · Take a little space

Find a calm spot. It is okay to step away until the big wave passes.

5 · Come back

When you are calm, come back and fix whatever needs fixing. That is the brave part.
