A Free Printable · Age 8
Five simple calm-down steps your 8-year-old can follow on their own, for the moments when a feeling gets too big. Print it, post it on the fridge, and have it ready before the next big wave.
When a big feeling hits, a kid cannot always think of what to do. This card gives them the steps, so the plan is ready before the feeling is.
Say the feeling out loud. "I am so mad." Naming a feeling turns the volume down.
Big belly breaths. In for four, out for four. Five slow ones.
Shake your hands, stomp, push against a wall. Let the feeling move through your body.
Find a calm spot. It is okay to step away until the big wave passes.
When you are calm, come back and fix whatever needs fixing. That is the brave part.
One printable card, built for kids age 8. The five calm-down steps in a format you can post on the fridge, tuck in a backpack, or keep by the calm-down corner. It is free, and it takes ten seconds to grab.
