Welcome to Real Life · Chapter 8

The Decision Journal

The most grown-up activity in the book. Track your real decisions — before AND after — and get better at them.

⏱ 10 min per entry · whenever a real decision comes up
Kit Tashi Ren

Tashi walked you through this in the book. One entry per real decision. Write the first half BEFORE you decide, the second half AFTER you see what happened. Print a stack for your journal.

What You’ll Need

  • A decision you actually need to make (they come up every day)
  • 10 honest minutes
  • Willingness to look at your own choices without blaming or bragging

Decision Journal Entry

Fill in part one before you decide. Come back after and fill in part two.

Part 1: Before

Part 2: After

After 5 or 10 entries, flip back through. You’ll see your own decision-making style. That pattern is gold.

Tashi’s bonus twist: Print 10 copies at once and staple them. Your Decision Journal becomes a real notebook you carry. When something hard comes up, you already have the page. When you have the page, you actually use it.

Tashi
“The magic isn’t any single entry — it’s the pattern over time. After five or ten entries, you’ll start to see your own decision-making style. You’ll catch your blind spots. You’ll get faster at making good choices.”
