Welcome to Real Life · Chapter 6

The Friendship Check-In

This one’s private. Nobody else needs to see it. A quiet look at the friendships in your life right now.

⏱ About 15 minutes · alone
Kit Ren Tashi

Ren walked you through this in the book. This page is your printable worksheet. Do it alone. Keep it to yourself. It’s not a judgment tool — it’s a map of where you are right now.

What You’ll Need

  • About 15 minutes of honest thinking
  • Privacy — do this one alone
  • Willingness to see what’s actually there

Friendship Check-In

List the people you’d actually call friends. For each one, answer five honest questions. Then look at the patterns.

The Questions (Y = yes · S = sometimes · N = no · for the last: D = drained · Nt = neutral · E = energized)

Name Feel good about myself? Can trust them? Respect my no? Happy about my wins? Drained or energized?

Sort Into Groups

💎 Inner Circle

Mostly yes + energized. Invest here.

🤝 Good Friends

Mix of yes and sometimes. Might need more honesty.

❓ Question Marks

Mostly no or drained. Needs a conversation — or may have run its course.

Ren’s bonus twist: Do this check-in again in six months without looking at today’s version. Compare. Friendships shift. Some strengthen, some fade, new ones show up. Both check-ins together become a story of your inner circle growing.

Ren
“Most people discover they have fewer inner-circle friends than they thought — and that’s completely fine. Quality over quantity isn’t just a saying. It’s how friendship actually works.”
