Editorial Policy

Pax Ember publishes books and resources for families raising kids in the AI generation. Parents are trusting us with what their children read. This page says plainly how we work, so you can decide whether that trust is earned.

Who publishes this

Pax Ember is an imprint of Makarios Media LLC, a small independent publisher. We are not a large house with a marketing department deciding what parents ought to worry about. Decisions about what gets written, and how, are made by the people whose names are on the books.

How we decide what to publish

We start from what families are actually asking, not from what would be convenient to sell. Before a book is written we look at the real questions parents and kids type into search engines and retail sites, in their own words. If a topic already has good books covering it well, we would rather point you to those than add another.

Accuracy and sources

• We do not invent statistics. If a number appears in our work, it comes from a real source. If we cannot source it, we do not print it. A number that sounds authoritative and cannot be traced is worse than no number at all.
• We say when something is uncertain. Research on children and technology is young and often contested. Where the honest answer is that nobody knows yet, we write that instead of picking the version that makes a tidier chapter.
• We separate evidence from opinion. Our judgment calls are labeled as judgment calls. You are raising your own child and you get to disagree with us.

What we will not print

• Fabricated reviews, endorsements, or ratings, on our books or anywhere else.
• Fear used as a selling tool. Frightening parents is easy and it does not help a single kid.
• Medical, psychological, or legal advice. We are publishers, not clinicians. When a situation calls for a professional we say so and stop there.
• Anything that puts a child in front of a camera or a chatbot for our benefit.

Writing for children

Our kids’ books address children directly and treat them as capable of understanding real things. We do not talk down, and we do not use a child’s trust to sell them something. Safety guidance is built into the activities themselves rather than bolted on as a warning label, because that is how children actually absorb it.

Free resources

Every printable we make is available at paxember.com/free with no email address required. Some pages also offer an email signup. The material is the same either way, and the choice not to sign up costs you nothing.

Corrections

We get things wrong. When we do, we fix the page and say what changed rather than editing quietly. For books already in print, corrections go into the next printing and, where it matters, onto this site sooner.

Links to retailers point to our own books. We do not accept payment to recommend a product, service, or app. Where we name a specific tool, it is because we think it is worth naming.
