How we collect, use, and protect your data. Written plainly. No legalese.

Pax Ember is the publishing imprint of Makarios Media LLC, a small independent publisher based in the United States. We publish interactive workbooks for parents and kids to learn together. "We" and "us" throughout this page refer to Pax Ember / Makarios Media.
Questions about this policy or your data: media@paxember.com.
Only what you give us directly, plus basic site-operations data.
When you submit a form on paxember.com to request a free guide, join a waitlist, or subscribe to updates, we store the email you provide plus a tag that records which resource you asked for (so we know which email to send you). That tag is called entry_source.
Book 3 of the AI Generation trilogy includes a mission where kids record their voice to explore how AI voice cloning works. We do not store these recordings. They are sent directly to ElevenLabs, a third-party voice AI service, and the mission page links there. ElevenLabs processes the recording under their own privacy policy. We do not see, store, or retain any voice data on our servers.
Our hosting provider (Hostinger) keeps standard server logs for site operation and security (IP addresses, timestamps, pages requested). These are rotated on a short cycle. We do not use Google Analytics or other cross-site trackers on paxember.com.
That is it. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not build profiles on you. We do not resell or share your email with any third party for marketing purposes.
A few trusted services help us deliver the work. Each one handles its piece under its own privacy policy:
Pax Ember operates a YouTube channel and uses YouTube API Services to manage our own channel: to upload our own original videos, set their titles, descriptions, tags, and thumbnails, schedule them for publishing, and read our own channel's analytics so we can improve our content. We use these services only for our own channel and our own content.
Our use of YouTube API Services is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service, and any data Google handles in providing these services is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
We do not collect, store, or share any YouTube user's personal data through these services. We do not access viewers' accounts or any other channel's data. The only YouTube data we access is our own channel's content and its aggregate performance statistics.
The authorization our internal tool holds to access our own channel can be reviewed or revoked at any time through Google's security settings page at https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions. We retain no third-party user data; any of our own channel data that we cache is refreshed or deleted in line with the YouTube API Services Terms of Service.
Our books are written for kids ages 8 to 12 and age 10 (for Real Life), but our website forms are designed for parents, not kids. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If your child is under 13 and wants a resource from our site, a parent should be the subscriber. If you learn that a child under 13 provided us with information without parental consent, email us at media@paxember.com and we will delete the record.
On the kid-facing mission and challenge pages, we do not collect emails or personal data from visitors. Those pages are purely instructional.
paxember.com does not set marketing cookies. We do not run advertising networks or cross-site trackers. A minimal session cookie may be set by the hosting infrastructure for basic site operations. That is the extent of cookie use.
You can, at any time:
If you are in the EU, UK, California, or another jurisdiction with specific privacy rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA), the rights above apply to you without additional steps. Email us for anything more specific.
We use HTTPS site-wide, store credentials outside the web root, and rely on our third-party services (MailerLite, Postmark, Hostinger) for industry-standard data security on their ends. No system is perfectly secure; we commit to notifying subscribers promptly if any incident affects your data.
If we change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes (anything that expands how we use your data), send a notice to active subscribers before the change takes effect.
Questions, deletion requests, concerns, or corrections: media@paxember.com.
